Rev. Michael Giese is the latest pastor addition to the Peace Lutheran Church family. He was born and raised in west central Minnesota. When asked where in Minnesota he is from, he describes Granite Falls as a sleepy rural town 47 miles north of Walnut Grove (former home of Laura Ingalls Wilder – “Little House on the Prairie”).
Pastor Mike considers himself “fully Lutheran”, having been a member of seven Lutheran church bodies (ALC, AFLC, LCMS, WELS, CLA, TAALC, NALC). He received his Bachelors of Science in Business from Wayland Baptist University – Alaska campus in 1999 and a Masters of Divinity from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary – Tacoma Washington in 2006.
Pastor Mike married Misty Giese in 1994 and has two children: Justin (age 19) and Amber (age 16). He completed his military career in 2015, after serving in the U.S. Army (Active Duty and Reserve) for 24 years. During his service in the US Army, he received commendations for his work in Operation Enduring Freedom – Afghanistan (2009), Operation Quick Response/Southern Watch (1994), and his assistance in the Columbia Space Shuttle recovery mission (2003).
In addition to God’s ministry and his family, Pastor Mike’s interests include music, where he was a member of the 70th US Band (clarinet player) and a participant in the half-time show of Super bowl XXVI, back in 1992.
